About Bedrock Playschool!

Divider

Bedrock Playschool is a not for profit society that is overseen by a dedicated group of parent board members.

We are Drumheller’s only accredited playschool that offers 3 & 4 year old programs.

Our play-based classroom helps develop children’s social, emotional, motor, numeracy and literacy skills so that they gain confidence and friendship in their early childhood years!

Our small class sizes and weekly themes keep kids engaged and excited to “go to school”.

It’s not just play…

“Play is the work of the child.”

Maria Montessori

“The first five years have so much to do with how the next 80 turn out.”

Bill Gates Sr.

“Play is the highest form of research.”

Albert Einstein

Our Story

Bedrock Playschool is Drumheller’s only accredited Playschool that offers 3 and 4 year-old, half-day classes for children. Bedrock Playschool is a not for profit society and is overseen by a dedicated group of parents.

At Bedrock Playschool, we recognize that play is the language of childhood. It is through play that children make sense of their world. Valuable skills such as creativity, problem solving, strength, coordination, brain development, and socialization are developed through play. Bedrock Playschool helps children to develop cognitively, socially, emotionally, physically and behaviorally.

Our dynamic and caring teachers provide exceptional programming to preschoolers centered around learning through play. We offer daily crafts, stories and circle time as well as themed activities and field trips.

Martha Chambers

Teacher – Educator
I have taught at Bedrock for over ten years! Guiding young kids brings me so much joy! Bachelor of Physical Education is my background and I love helping kids learn new ways to move their bodies! As a teacher, swim instructor, or sport coach, kids have shown me the true meaning of fun, fulfillment and patience!
My husband, Gary and I farm near Morrin and our son Chase works in Calgary. We spend most of our spare time in the mountains enjoying activities each new season has to offer!
See you around town!

Stephanie MacDermid

Teacher – Educator
Hi! I’m Stephanie MacDermid, better known as Mrs. Mac, and I’m so excited to be returning to Bedrock Playschool this year! I live on a farm with my husband and our three children, where life is always busy and full of adventure. I love spending time outdoors, gardening, cheering on my kids at their sporting events, and being involved in our community.
Working with preschoolers is such a rewarding experience, and I feel so lucky to be part of these important early years. I can’t wait to meet our new families, welcome back familiar faces, and enjoy a year filled with learning, laughter, creativity, and fun!

Pam Sherwin

Substitute Teacher

Ms. Sherwin moved to Drumheller from Ontario in 2012. Both her children attended Bedrock, and she never imagined that she would one day work in the very same classroom!
While she holds her Level 1 ECE Certification, she also has a BFA in Acting. All the Improvisation, Movement, Voice and Clowning she studied has been invaluable in the classroom.
She loves getting to watch the little ones walk through the doors on their first day, sometimes shy & teary, and then at Graduation, having blossomed into confident, proud kiddos.
